it's been... a short few weeks... since we last were on the road.
this time... andrew collberg, clay koweek, connor gallaher and vicki brown are in!
expanding the stage numbers and we got a big van for all of us and our suitcases.
played phoenix a couple of nights ago, and we have been hanging out in flagstaff, arizona
for a couple of nights now... loving to be there, staying at the montevista hotel where
they love us and treat us like road lords. hmm... i had a fun time dancing cumbia
last night at the green room in flagstaff, courtesy of the great DJ team from mexico
city, tucson, phoenix... wish i could remember the names, but adam cooper teran from
tucson was VJing and he was fantastic. sunny and windy in flagstaff. loving to be out
of the impending tucson heat wave. yeah.

Clay's 10 Commandments to Brother Connor
Clay has headed back to Tucson.. his sister is getting married.
Connor has replaced him on the guitar. Clay left these words
to Connor... Here are the "10 Tour Commandments + Amendments"
by Clay Koweek:
Brother Connor,
I hand down to Thee the commandments of Tour, or Rules of the Road. A plan for the van, in the age of the Stage. Learn them, Know them, live Them.
#1 – There is nothing to be stressed about on tour. All has been provided for food, free beer, lodging, transportation. Therefore, make yourself comfortable and know when to take action.
#2 – Lend a Hand. Make the extra effort to help with the loading and unloading of equipment and luggage. Everyone will be thankful.
#3 – Set a routine, and break it healthily. Each day, from when you wake up until you fall asleep, will be run like a clock. The venues, hotels and soundmen will change but only enough to provide small distractions. Figure out the way that suits you best to navigate your day. Furthermore, to avoid being overwhelmed by the sameness of days, find ways to break the routine. Steal away for a walk, or escape to a book. It becomes very important.
#4 – Don’t eat if you’re not hungry. Same goes for drinking. Food will be at your fingertips at the venues, breakfast at the hotel, dinner after soundcheck. The point is, after three or four days of constantn snacking, lots of beer drinking and heavy meals, your stomach will be a wreck, your energy drained, and your body bunned, Therefore, maintain some self-control and treat yourself right.
#5 – On stage, play it straigh ahead. Off Stage, improvise. An apple can be a pipe, laundry can be washed in the sink of any hotel, especially if it has a heater to dry it on. A rolled up hotel towel makes a good neck pillow. You get the idea.
#6 – If you need something, ask for it. This especially goes for having to use the bathroom while in the van, or for your monitor mix at soundcheck or during the show.
#7 – Ich bin Amerikaner works every time, especially now that there is a new president in office.
#8 – Have fun, play smart and
#9 - above all,
#10 - no peanuts.
AMENDMENTS
#1 – pillage beers and fruits
#2 – light a match.....

CLAY some more...
CLAYS WRITES ...
"Bremen, Hannover, Madeburg, Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig.
Tonight we are in Dresden.
Somehow, i managed to miss five shows worth of blogging. If you could only see my guilty face. Anyway, all is going well here on the road with the Le Pop tour. There have been mostly memorable shows, although it is hard to tell one night from another at some points. Must be because all of the back stages have the same staple features, the bread, pork, chese, beer. Fruit, juice, and candy. Weird couches, poor lighting, and somewhere amongst the names of bands scribbled on the wall there are the names of fame, friends, and (always in different handwriting) "Nirvana."
Certainly there are a few things that i can;t go without mentioning. For one, how awesome it is to be touring with Francoiz Breut and her band. Going in to the whole thing, i wasn't sure how touring with people i'd never met before was going to pan out, but after a day my worries had dissolved. So there are nine of us. Three from the Marianne Dissard camp, three from Francoiz, and three from Le Pop. Also i think it is a must to spend a moment and explain breakfast in (most) German motels. In the states, i never eat the breakfast. Here, in Germany I will eat scarmbled eggs, white cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, bread, and a bowl of granola or cereal with yougurt and fruit juice in it. To drink, i'll have juice, a personal pot of peppermint tea, and, if the mood strikes me, a cup of coffee. Although I've come dangerously close to seeing several sunrises, I haven't yet missed a breakfast on tour. Two nights ago Rolf--the Papilon of the whole opperation-- treated us to dinner at our hotel in Leipzig. Previously that day, i had been daydreaming of lamb with potatoes. To my good fortune they had it on the menu, rack of lamb with rosemarry and garlic potatoes came to me as though i had devined it. On top of that, Marianne had invited her lovely friend Hanka to join us, so I sat and ate happily while we talked Tucson and of the troubles of German service.
So, as you can see, while out here on tour, I'm spoiled. Learn to play, join a band, come to Europe, and eat your fill. The long drives, nights with bad sound on stage, and wrestling the trailer, all of these will fade from memory. Tomorrow is Munich. I'm only thinking of eggs."
